Auburn University Village Dining Renovation
As one of Auburn University's two largest dining facilities, Village Dining feeds up to 30,000 students each year. To improve circulation of students while providing a variety of food choices, Village Dining was scheduled for a renovation to the interior layout to address the challenges of congestion at serving lines while maintaining a comfortable and welcoming place for students to gather. To prevent extended downtime for construction, this renovation was broken in two construction phases. The first phase was completed over the summer session while the second construction phase completed at the end of the fall academic session. SNA was able to work with Dining Services, Auburn Facilities Management and Vollrath Food Service to complete an ambitious 8 month design and construction schedule.
Initially, SNA provided a facilities assessment and programming study to determine the extent and schedule for renovation. Objectives included the evaluation of the existing facility’s back of house kitchen & utility infrastructure to support to meet the existing and future Food Service needs, and to evaluate back of house floor finish replacement options and phasing. SNA also assisted with determining overall project scope, conceptual construction budgeting while collaborating on the development of construction phasing options.
Working closely with AU Facilities Interiors to develop a plan that addressed facility modifications, renovations and expansion, SNA helped re-design existing facilities seating areas, exiting and student flow at the Village.
