Dudley Hall Renovation

The Dudley Hall and Dudley Commons project is an 80,000 SF renovation at Auburn University. Dudley Hall provides the teaching and studio environment for the School of Architecture at Auburn. The original scope began as a brick and window replacement project and has grown to include: ADA restroom modification, mechanical upgrades, and relocating the east side building entry. Stacy Norman Architects worked with Robins & Mortin to provide a detailed cost analysis for each of the design options.

The exterior skin replacement includes a complete façade re-design to provide curtain wall components in lieu of punched openings in the design studios to accommodate day-lighting strategies that increase natural lighting levels and reduce electrical lighting demand. As part of the façade re-design, the brick veneer was pushed out from the structure to accommodate a new waterproofing plane and increased insulation. The new high performance glazing, in addition to increasing insulation at the brick, improve the energy efficiency of the building. The mechanical upgrades include completing the university infrastructure projects that provide hot and chilled water to Dudley Hall.
